Beverley Coleclough

Although I trained initially as a painter, I learned how to carve marionettes early in my career. As I have always loved to work in a wide range of materials and processes, working professionally in the theatre gave me those opportunities. My Australian paintings/collage series was started after a 6 month residency in Alice Springs and the first part of this collection is based on natural forms, colours and textures of the Central dessert. An additional residency in Western Australia culminated in a mixture of paintings and textiles influenced by the sea and its surroundings.

Now a member of Central Craft in Alice springs and is where I first learnt the wet-felting technique and have since been be involved in the process of extending my range of felting by experimenting with mixed fibres and textures producing a mixture of wearable pieces and wall hangings.
