Concrete Stuff (End of Residency exhibition)
We’ve been honoured to be hosting artist Pierre Courtin from Angers as part of a residency programme between twin towns Angers & Wigan.
Join us for the exhibition of the work he’s created on Wednesday 26th June at 6.30pm at Cross Street Arts
Pierre said “During my residency, I’ve been working on how urbanisation leaves scars on the landscape and ecosystems. Concrete engulfs everything, leaving behind only a sense of melancholy for these new, dead biomes. I’m trying to capture this melancholy through embedded, dead wood. They’re like remains, ruins or phantoms of what they were. A deformed reflection. But also signs of what they will be. They resurface from concrete, as nature always finds its way.”
