Kiri’s current work is centred on a layering process using oil paints over an altered surface. Processes such as repeated sanding, inscribing and pealing allows a worn texture to be revealed. Sitting amongst these surfaces are emotional marks influenced by childhood memories. Each painting explores line, colour, texture and weighting using geometric shapes and unguided lines. Porcelain is used within the paintings to highlight and isolate particular meanings or phrases, which are significant to her. Her ceramic work focuses on repeated phrases from childhood, exploring form and a worn surface.
